Evening primrose oil (EPO) is an herbal option that has claims of a variety of medical benefits. It is available in two different forms, which are briefly mentioned below:
Oil
Oil from the herb is one type, however, as mentioned below it should only be taken by adults, and not children, who are only to use the capsule variety when taking evening primrose oil. The standardization is that the oil's gamma-linolenic acid should be 8% of its contents.
Capsules
EPO capsules can be taken by both adult and pediatric patients. Like the oil variety, capsules should be standardized to 8% GLA content.
Method of production
The seeds of the plant are pressed in order to release the oils, which are then used to make both the oil and capsule forms of this herbal medicine.
